That he has become an established artist and Eha-lakasa spoken word performer is probably an overstatement. But it goes without saying Sir Black is etching an indelible mark on Ghana’s contemporary visual and literary culture; one that will perhaps never be erased for now and posterity. His art works are partly spiritual, exotic and thought provoking with underlying background in their originality, combines both spheres of culture and contemporary life. His style; abstract and surreal.
Sir Black is a self-taught artist, born, raised, works and lives in Ghana. He is currently working on what they call the PANOPTIC ARTLOSOPHY. it is a form of abstract art dealing with metaphysical representation of thought or theory with definite symbols. You can also call it EHA-LAKASA. Eha-lakasa is a straight talk, street philosophy, poetry and music expressed by the arts.
He has participated in several exhibitions and workshops. He uses his painting, sculpture and Eha-lakasa to talk about social vices, political issues and the challenge of under-development in Africa. Well known for his poetic exuberance, featuring on international gigs, festivals, TV, radio, exhibition openings, diplomatic occasions and poetry slams. He is a three (3) time prize winner in spoken word poetry (Eha-lakasa) including the “2006 Peace FM Search Competition”.
