'amaBooks is an independent publisher, based in Bulawayo, of contemporary writing from Zimbabwe. We specialise in novels, short stories and poetry in English, although we do publish some books on local culture and history.
We have published 23 books since we started in 2001. The books have won several prizes in the Zimbabwe National Arts Merit Awards and in the Zimbabwe Book Publishers Awards.

Long Time Coming: Short Writings from Zimbabwe. Snapshots of life in present day Zimbabwe. Chosen by New Internationalist as one of two 'Best Books of 2009'.
Dancing with Life: Tales from the Township, by Christopher Mlalazi. Winner of a 2009 Zimbabwe National Arts Merit Award and given an Honourable Mention in the 2009 Noma Awards for African Publishing.
