Music Crossroads Malawi is hosting the Music Crossroads National Finals on Sunday 27th June, 2010 at the NEW Music Crossroads Training Centre OUTDOOR STAGE in Area 23, opposite Chifuniro Private School, in LILONGWE.

The National Festival is the culmination of the Music Crossroads Malawi Local Festivals 2009/2010 which were held in Mzuzu, Lilongwe,Balaka and Blantyre. Two groups from each local festival were selected to compete at the National finals.

From the National Finals two best bands be selected to represent Malawi at the Music Crossroads Interregional Festival that will be held from 15-18th July 2010, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Inter regional Festival is the culmination of the Music Crossroads program and will have competing musicians from Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe with guest bands from South Africa, Ghana, Sweden and Belgium.

The Music Crossroads Program aims to increase the level of professionalism of musicians aged 15 - 25, who have few learning opportunities, and acts as a platform to help them launch the musical careers of young talents; it encourages its participants to think for themselves and to take pride in who they are and in their cultural heritages, and it gives its participants the unique opportunity to discuss sexuality, gender and relationships and learn how to take personal action against the further spread of HIV/AIDS.
