About performing at Bushfire

The Bushfire International Festival of the Arts is one of Africa’s premier festivals for international and home-grown artistic talent.
It is an innovative multi–disciplinary “arts and culture” event that utilises a public platform to celebrate and encourage positive societal change.

The 3-day Pan-African Arts festival will be held from 27th – 29th May, 2011.

In addition to stimulating Artistic growth across Southern Africa, Bushfire also works towards generating awareness and raising funds for some of the region’s more critical social needs. The festival has drawn global awareness to an Internet-based child
sponsorship programme, “Young Heroes”, who receive 100% of the profits from the event.

Artists who wish to participate at Bushfire are requested to apply with the understanding that they will actively participate in promoting this partnership for the benefit of the Orphans of Swaziland.

Bushfire launched in 2007 and has seen performances from top artists such as:
Ladysmith Black Mambazo (SA), Hugh Masekela (SA), Johnny Clegg (SA), Habib Koite (Mali), Busi Mhlongo (SA), Coleman Barks (USA), Freshly Ground (SA), Dobet Ghanoré (Ivory Coast), Tarika Bé (Madagascar), Rootsrider (Holland), Freshlyground (SA), Ali Keita (Mali), Stimela (SA), Vusi Mahlasela (SA), Thandiswa (SA), Jose Chameleone (UG), Soweto String Quartet (SA), Nana Magagula (Swaziland), Pops Mohamed (SA), Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse (SA), Blissful Virtuous (UK), Bholoja (Swaziland), Siphokazi (SA), Gcina Mhlophe (SA), Sotho Sounds (Lesotho), Hot Water (SA), Elemotho (Namibia), José Mucavele (Moz), Lilanga (Swaziland), Croc E Moses (Canada), Comrade Fatso (Zimbabwe), Aldo Brincat (Botswana).
