Based on contemporary visual arts, “Medrar” is a non-profit organisation that began its activities in 2005. It represents a common cultural corporate and philanthropic platform for young emerging artists with all means of communication, developing experiences and financial support. Considering the necessity to document the ongoing contemporary art movement in Egypt and critique-based methods, “Medrar” aims to drive the interest of emerging artists by providing opportunities for access and experimentation by stimulating the artistic scene through organising workshops, festivals and periodic events, encouraging participation and cultural exchange between Egyptian and foreign artists (in the form of lectures, collaborative projects or workshops), creating space for dialogue between young art critics by producing serial prospectuses and critical researches, and seeking all forms of collaboration between Medrar and other associations or foundations that support various strands of art practice in order to form basic original cultural backgrounds.
